Natural Gut Stringing
Natural Gut Strings are made from the finest quality lamb and beef intestines offering unparalleled power, feel, touch, and control. They also offer unequalled shock absorption for players suffering from arm problems. Many top professionals use natural gut either as a full restring or as part of a hybrid stringing system.
It’s important to note that whilst many Natural Gut Strings are now supplied in a ‘weatherproofed’ finish, this is not to say they can be used in rain or excessively damp conditions. Synthetic Strings are best used in such conditions. The weatherproofing on Natural Gut Strings enables play in slightly damp conditions. Natural Gut strings do not come with any form of guarantee regarding durability or water resistance.
Babolat VS Touch
Natural Gut
Manufactured in France, this premier grade thin (1.25mm) extra quality Natural Gut String is played by Caroline Wozniacki and Maria Sharapova as part of their Hybrid stringing. VS Team is the most popular Natural Gut String on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Tour. It provides superb performance but is only available in a non-weatherproofed finish.
Hybrid Stringing
Hybrid Stringing uses two different types of string. This usually Natural Gut or a high performance multifilament along with a monofilament string to provide perfect touch and feel with increased durability. Combinations are available on request. Synthetic Strings
This section covers multifilament, polyester/co-polymer, and wrapped synthetic strings.
Tecnifibre Multifeel
Built from an army of flexible fibers and soaked in stretchy polyurethane, Tecnifibre Multifeel shares its manufacturing process with the NRG2 and X-One Biphase, two of the most comfortable and responsive multifilaments ever made. However, unlike its more popular siblings, Multifeel comes with a thin (and firm) monofilament core. The result is a tennis string that balances high comfort and medium power with an impressive level of control. Multifeel also received a surprisingly good spin score for a non-poly. Granted, it doesn’t give the vicious ball rotation we get from polys, but gives enough spin to bring the ball down reliably.
It will however, likely deter advanced polyester users and chronic string breakers. Ultimately, though, for the multifilament player or comfort seeker who wants extra control at a bargain price, Multifeel is simply as good as it gets.
Tecnifibre X-One Biphase
Some tennis strings are very basic (think traditional poly or synthetic gut). These strings consist of one or two parts and they tend not to specialize in the more expensive luxuries of comfort, feel and power. On the other end of the spectrum, there is Tecnifibre X-One Biphase, a string with many carefully chosen and meticulously arranged parts. Like natural gut, X-One Biphase is a tad pricey, but that is to be expected given the considerable technology packed into this string. The price is worth it for the player who wants an incredibly arm-friendly string loaded with pop. While X-One Biphase is not natural gut, it gives the kind of comfort, feel, tension maintenance and power that very few comparable multis can offer. The downside of this string is in the form of less spin-potential and control.
Ultimately though, for the player who wants outstanding shock-absorption with a uniquely comfortable (yet wonderfully crisp) feel, X-One Biphase is simply one of the best options available.
Tecnifibre Razor Soft
For players seeking precision and comfort, this is Daniil Medvedev’s choice of string. Thanks to the use of high modulus co-polyester, Tecnifibre offers players the opportunity to improve control. For the first time, Tecnifibre has added polyurethane additives to make the string even more comfortable. The RAZOR SOFT string offers 2 main advantages: Precision and Comfort.
The main materials included in the string are co-polyester and PU additives. The recommended tension is between 22 and 25 kg with a maximum tension of 32 kg. This string is especially recommended for rackets over 300g.
RAB Sensor Fibre
Sensor Fibre is often described as the nearest thing to natural gut. It offers a truly natural feel and is forgiving to the arm (i.e. Tennis Elbow). The very small fibres are formed together by a unique chemical heat process. The material is saturated with polyurethane, twisted and time cured to create an exact string memory. This memory will read your shot precisely and help you to transmit the exact detail of Power and Touch. Perfect your game with Sensor Fibre.
Diadem Solstice Power
This string is a comfortably firm co-poly with Star Core technology. Star Core combines a low-friction surface with maximum ball bite giving you the ultimate in spin. This is the ideal string for recreational to advanced players looking for a comfortable poly with pin point control.
Prince Synthetic Gut with Duraflex
With its phenomenal all-around playability, Prince Synthetic Gut w/ Duraflex is one of the best value strings of all time. This is not only the perfect string for budget minded players looking for controllable power and decent comfort but it also makes a great hybrid cross string. Compared to Prince Synthetic Gut Original, this string is slightly firmer and more durable.
Wilson NXT
This is one of the most popular and time-tested multifilaments ever made. It offers optimal comfort, touch, power, and feel. According to Wilson, NXT offers a 10% increased sweet spot over traditional synthetic gut as well as 74% less vibration. Players with slow to moderate swing speeds will benefit from the power of NXT. Tennis elbow sufferers looking for a softer, more comfortable string should also give NXT a try.
Babolat RPM Blast 16
RPM Blast is a monofilament string that offers a great combination of spin, power and a unique feel on impact. Due to its linked silicone coating, it offers great spin potential.
Luxilon Smart
Introducing Luxilon Smart, a technologically advanced co-poly with an impressive combination of control, durability and feel. As with their M2 and Element series, Luxilon has designed this string with variable flex to perform optimally across different stroke speeds. On faster swings, Smart is designed to stiffen so as to provide the attacking player with the needed control to ratchet up the power and spin. On slower or more compact strokes, Smart is designed to play softer for better touch, power and feel. The upshot is an extremely versatile co-poly that should work for a wide range of players. This string has been designed by Luxilon for the Wilson Clash Range. To optimize performance, Luxilon recommends a tension range of 18-22 kg. / 40-48 lbs.
